The doctoral programme in Adult Education has attracted a growing number of students from South Africa and other African countries over the last few years. Students engage in cutting edge research in the field of adult education, and focus areas include adult learning in social movements, adult education and disability, community education, reading and literacy, teacher narratives in Further Education and Training colleges, and learning among African women migrants. Students work within a cohort model which provides structured support from staff and fellow students, complementing conventional one-on-one supervision.
