Julia Preece joined the Centre for Adult Education in August 2011. She has worked at the National University of Lesotho and University of Botswana on the African continent and the Universities of Lancaster, Surrey and Glasgow in the UK. She has recently completed a pan-African research project on universities and their third mission of community service and has published extensively in the field of adult and lifelong learning. Her most recent refereed publication is: Lifelong Learning and Development: A Southern Perspective (Continuum).

Her research interests are community engagement and service learning, adult education, lifelong learning, and include gender and citizenship aspects to do with adult and lifelong learning.
